Steve Welton and Alex Reyes both finished 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs as Coeur d'Alene topped visiting Lakeland (1-4, 0-4) 9-5 Friday in the Inland Empire League.
The Vikings (10-0, 4-0) scored three runs in the fifth inning to go ahead 7-5.
Coeur d'Alene's J.J. Turbin retired six of the last seven batters to earn his second save of the year.
KC Mack hit a two-run double in the top of the eighth and Central Valley topped host Ferris 10-7 in Greater Spokane League play. Sean Stockton hit a two-run home run for the Saxons (4-1) in the seventh to tie the game at 7 before the Bears scored three runs in the top of the eighth. Trevor Nearing finished 3 for 5 with two runs scored for CV (4-4). Elsewhere in the GSL, Mead scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 7-all tie and the Panthers topped visiting Gonzaga Prep (2-6) 10-7. Sean McNaghten hit a two-run homer in the sixth for Mead. Connor Moore went 3 for 4, including two triples, and knocked in two runs for the Panthers (5-1). Paul Smith went 2 for 3 with four RBIs as Mt. Spokane hammered visiting North Central (4-4) 12-2 in five innings. Mark Purser added two hits and three RBIs for the Wildcats (7-1). Ryan Shontell hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, giving Shadle Park a 5-4 come-from-behind win over visiting East Valley (2-6). The Highlanders scored four runs in the seventh, capped by Shontell's game-winning hit. Andrew Roginski earned the win for Shadle (4-4). Jacob Schnibbe was 3 for 5 and drove in four runs as University routed host Lewis and Clark (1-6) 13-2 in six innings at Hart Field. Danny Jordan (2-0) earned the win for the Titans (4-2).
SoftballAndrew Mastranardi had a goal and an assist as East Valley blanked visiting Mt. Spokane 2-0 in Greater Spokane League action. Matt Eatock scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute for the Knights (4-3, 4-1), who outshot the Wildcats (0-7, 0-4) 14-4. Elsewhere in the GSL, Peter Dunau's goal in the seventh minute proved to be the difference as Lewis and Clark edged host Ferris 1-0. The Tigers (6-2, 4-1) outshot the Saxons (4-3, 2-2) 11-7. Sam Busby scored the first two goals of the match as Central Valley blanked visiting North Central 3-0. Central Valley (4-4, 2-3) dominated the action, outshooting the Indians (2-6, 0-4) 24-7. Matt Wakeley had a goal and an assist as Gonzaga Prep (3-3, 2-2) slid past host Shadle Park (3-5, 2-3) 2-1. Travis Nortell scored the Bullpups' first goal of the game in the 34th minute. Chris Leech scored the Highlanders' lone goal in the 65th minute. University scored the first three goals and cruised to a 4-1 win over host Rogers (2-5, 1-4). Evan Frobe had a goal and an assist for the Titans (5-3, 4-1).
