NEW APPROACH AT PAINTED HILLS
In March of 2006, the McIhinney Family purchased the Painted Hills golf course and Chester Creek par 3.
The past few months have seen some professional changes for the golfers from the friendly greetings in
the clubhouse to the impeccably manicured course. The practice facilities are among the best in the Inland Northwest.
The greens afford the golfer the opportunity to practice any putt that can be encountered on any course.
You can set up any scenario, from chipping from a trap or lofting a ball onto an elevated undulating surface.
The stimp meter readings are posted daily to help your speed readings. The driving range is lighted and appointed with both mat and grass play.
Recent additions of covered, heated hitting stations, make practice time an all year all weather event.
Buckets of balls are priced so reasonably that year round practice is very affordable.

Groups playing and on deck for the first tee are announced by a new sound system.
The course has gone under a series of renovations since the purchase.
The tee boxes and greens were aerated, sanded and smoothed early in the spring.
Fesque grass was planted in the open areas to aid the redefinition of the fairways.
The fringe and intermediate rough are kept at constant heights, while shots that stray
far from the fairway are severely handicapped by the tall grass.
Greens are mowed daily, sometimes double cut to maintain a constant speed.
The position of the flag is now obvious with the addition of the colored placement flag
(red, white or blue). Many of the fairways are tree lined with spruce and fir trees.
This fall, the lower branches were removed which improves the golfers lie and increases
visibility throughout the course.

When the round is completed returning to the clubhouse is a real pleasure.
Terry the chef..has prepared culinary delights for lunch, snacks or dinner.
The aromas of the delicacies waft throughout the 19th hole.
If the golfer is in need of lessons or custom measured clubs,
Tim McIhinney(PGA Professional) is always on site to satisfy.

Services have been increased since John McIhinney and his family took over the
helm at Painted Hills. The restaurant features banquets and parties.
The covered patio is great for summertime meals and festivities.
Conventions, company and family outings are a mid season staple.
Summer golf camps for juniors are scheduled. Group classes for juniors, seniors and
intermediate golfers are available year round. Private lessons are available from Professional
Tim McIhinney and assistant pro Chad Ostby from Arlee Montana. The family atmosphere welcomes all and insures
that all needs will be met.
The Chester Creek Par 3 has undergone the same changes as the course.
The fairways are clearly defined, manicured greens, and challenging traps make this
a course perfect for honing the iron game.
