Meet University High School Teacher, Miss Jessica Walters.

We are proud to feature our Math Teacher and Tennis Coach; Miss Jessica Walters.

Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: Walla Walla Washington

Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: Undergrad: Whitworth College (Spokane, WA.) Major - Math and French, Minor - Leadership Studies (plus Secondary Ed Certification). Graduate: Whitworth COllege, Masters - Secondary Ed.

Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: Math was my "easy" subject, French was my favorite. (Well, PE was another favorite)

Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: High School: Tennis for four years, soccer for two years, Cross Country for two years ( I blew out my knee my sophomore year and switched to cross country after that). College: Tennis for four years.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: I have always enjoyed coaching/teaching aspects of sports and worked at a lot of 'camps' (Tennis and swimming lessons especially). However, the summer I worked at Stanford for their Nike Tennis Camps was the first time I realized I truly wanted to coach for a lifetime.

Q: Where was your first teaching job? Coaching job?
A: I student taught at Mead High School and was a volunteer Cross Country Coach while there. My first teaching job was here at University High School and my first "official" coaching experience was here as well.

Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: I have been here since 2003.

Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A: I love to travel, run, attend concerts, work on my house and spend time with family and friends.

Q: If you were not at U High teaching and coaching what would you like to be doing?
A: Living in France or Europe somewhere.

Q: Background information:

1. What is your favorite food?
A: Pizza, Pasta, and Tacos.


2. What is your favorite movie?
A: The Holiday.


3. What is your favorite band/artist?
A: Jason Mraz, Pearl Jam, Incubus.


4. Tell us about your family:
A: I am single (hopefully not forever though!) and I am an only child. I am really close with my parents and have many people who are like 'adopted' siblings.
