Meet University High School Teacher, Mr. Joe Turman.

Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: I ws born in Chehalis Wa., lived in The Dalles Or. then moved to Spokane in 1974 at 5 years old.
Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: I attended EWU (Eastern Washington University) where I received my teaching degree.
Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: I really enjoyed Social Studies.
Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: I participated in football, wrestling and track while at Shadle Park.
Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: As soon as I wsa done playing football in college I decided to coach at the junior level.
Q: Where was your first teaching job?
A: My first coaching job was at Gary Junior High in 1987, I was 18 years old. My first teaching job was at Sunrise Elementary in

Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: I started coaching in 1991 and full time teaching in 2000.
Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A: I enjoy time at the lake and golf.
Q: If you were not at U High teaching and coaching what would you like to be doing?
A: I would love to be anywhere hot and playing golf!

4. Tell us about your family:
A: I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters, 6 nephews and 1 niece. They all live here in Spokane along with my parents.
