Meet University High School Teacher, Mr. Scott Sutherland.

We are proud to feature our Baseball Coach, Mr. Scott Sutherland.

Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: Pasadena California, moved to Spokane in 1970 at the age of 9.

Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: Eastern Washington University.

Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: Math and Science.

Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: Football and golf, none in college.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: At the age of 20 watching my 2 brothers play baseball!

Q: Where was your first teaching job?
A: Ferris High School in 1984 as a coach, then North Pines Middle School in 1988 as a teacher.

Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: 18th year.

Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A: Fishing, camping, and hiking.

Q: If you were not at U High teaching and coaching what would you like to be doing?
A: There is no doubt about it, I would be a Professional Bass Fisherman. I could also see myself working fulltime for the Seattle Mariners, I have a part-time job now as an associate scout for the Mariners.

1. What is your favorite food?
A: Mexican Food.


2. What is your favorite movie?
A: Braveheart.


3. What is your favorite band/artist?
A: Tool.


4. Tell us about your family:
A: I am married and have 6 children, and the oldest daughter Rachel goes to University High School.
