Meet University High School Science teacher and Basketball Coach, Mr. Garrick Phillips.
We are proud to feature Science teacher, and Head Basketball Coach, Mr. Garrick Phillips.
Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: Born in Eugene Oregon – grew up in North Spokane – 4th grade through high School Graduation.
Northwest Christian – 1988.
Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: Attended and graduated from the University of Puget Sound – 1992 Bachelors Degree in Natural Science (Biology Emphasis) – 1993 – Master Degree in Teaching also from UPS.
Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: I really enjoyed all of the Math and Science classes in school as well as college.
Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: I played football, basketball and baseball in high school. I was all – state in basketball and baseball. Played Basketball in college.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: During my college playing days, I decided that I wanted to teach and coach. I had a good understanding of the game as a point guard and wanted to transition into coaching. I landed at the High School level and really enjoy it.
Q: Where was your first teaching job?
A: After graduating from college – I began teaching and coaching at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie WA. I was there for 13 years as Head Boys Basketball Coach and Science Teacher.
Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: This is my 1st year at University.
Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A:I enjoy golfing and watching sporting events.

4. Tell us about your family:
A: Married to Kristina for 11 years. 2 boys – Logan 5 1/2 yrs. and Carson 4 yrs.
