Meet University High School Teacher, Mr. Kevin Houston.

We are proud to feature our Science Teacher, and Girls Soccer Coach, Mr. Kevin Houston.

Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: I was born in Pleiku, Vietnam. Adopted when I was 5, and raised in Spokane, Wa.

Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: I received my BS in Zoology at the University of Washington (U of W). I received a master in teaching from Seattle University.

Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: Math and Science.

Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: I played football for 3 years at University High School. I also played soccer. Then I played soccer for two years at Whitworth College.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: My second year of teaching I coached volleyball and had a blast!

Q: Where was your first teaching job?
A: My first job teaching was at Inglemoor High School in Bothell, Wa. My first head coaching job is here at University High School in 2002.

Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: Teaching since 2003 and coaching since 2002.

Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A: I have been renovating my home and besides coaching here at the High School, I coach both my daughter and son. I have no real time for hobbies; way too busy.

Q: If you were not at U High teaching and coaching what would you like to be doing?
A: I would eventually like to coach at the college level.

1. What is your favorite food?
A: Seafood Linguini.


2. What is your favorite movie?
A: Pulp Fiction.


3. What is your favorite band/artist?
A: I do not have one, but Led Zepplin, original Van Halen, and Boston are good.


4. Tell us about your family:
A: I have been married for 8 years and have 2 lovely children, 1 dog, a huge family with 9 brothers and sisters.
